Gurmat Sangeet Study Guide
One of the most important
areas of focus for the Gurmat Sangeet Project is the setting up of local
chapters for the study of Gurmat Sangeet. The requirements for setting
up a local chapter are extremely simple, all that is required is one adult
volunteer who is willing to invest the time in learning the five shabads
that make up the Basic Syllabus, and a few students of any age who are
interested in studying Gurmat Sangeet !
A simple tutorial that explains the system of notation used in the above shabads as well as basic musical concepts is available in the paper : Gurmat Sangeet Appreciation. The paper also presents a map of the harmonium or keyboard, making it fairly easy for the beginning student to identify and play musical notes.
