Shri Warren Senders Vijaya Sundaram on Tanpura, Warren Senders and Amritpal Singh at the Boston Basant Raga Samagam Warren Senders is a talented composer/musician who has studied and rendered Hindustani music for over 20 years. The leader of the indo-jazz ensemble Anti-Gravity, Senders is a member of the New England Conservatory faculty and a Learning Through Music specialist who applies a rich background in Indian, African, and Western music toward cross-cultural aspects of learning through music programs in public elementary schools. [Excerpted from www.warrensenders.com] Warren was invited to sing that the Boston Basant Raga Samagam at Milford on March 8, 2003, where this recording was made. Though the Sangat had largely not been exposed to Khayal Gayki, Warren's rendition of two Shloks in Raga Basant in Bada and Chota Khayal format, was mesmerizing. It was quite a sight in particular, to behold a large group of children sitting through the entire rendition, lost in the beautiful singing. Warren was accompanied by Vijaya Sundaram on Tanpura and Amritpal Singh on Tabla. The Gurmat Sangeet Project is delighted to present the rendition in its entirety.
